Maria Kunic (Cunitz, Cunitia) was an astronomer born in the 17th century in Wołów in Lower Silesia. Her greatest work is Urania Propitia – ”accessible astronomy”, in which she solved the ”Kepler problem” and placed the ephemeris of the Venus phases. This work was published in two languages: German and Latin, and divided into 23 chapters. It has 500 pages. In it, Maria Kunic re-edited Kepler’s astronomical tables, corrected them, made additions, and simplified them, using a method that omits logarithms. This work also includes a novelty, which is the ephemeris of the phases of Venus.
